Meet the team behind Hola Spanish Academy

Local expertise with a global reach, delivering top-tier Spanish tuition from native-speaking tutors in Bishop's Stortford to learners wherever they are.

Hola Spanish Academy was born from a passion for languages, and a deep love for sharing Spanish culture.

A word from Natalia

Natalia introduces herself, the method, and what students are doing with their Spanish from the first lesson.

Natalia Head Teacher and Co-founder

If you would rather read it

Natalia is a native Spanish speaker who studied languages at the Universidad de Salamanca, holds qualified teacher status in the UK and has ten years of teaching behind her.

The method works because the Spanish taught is natural and real-world, and her students are holding confident conversations from the first lesson.

Nobody sits and memorises rules. You speak and practise your Spanish in every single lesson, and you have fun doing it.

Our story, from Spain to Bishop's Stortford

2012

Natalia arrives in the UK to carry on studying as a linguist

Natalia and Diego are both from Spain, and both grew up curious about other cultures. That curiosity is what took them abroad in the first place.

The move to the UK eventually brought them both here for good. In between they lived in several parts of the world, teaching and tutoring languages wherever they landed.

Back in the UK they qualified as teachers. That, along with the years they spent teaching in schools abroad and across Essex, is the foundation the school is built on.

How we teach

We use a high-quality, communication-based method that gets proven results. Here is what that means in practice.

Communication first
You learn a language by using it, so every lesson is built around real conversation. You will say something in Spanish in your first one.
Small groups, face to face
You practise with other people in the room, rather than alone with an app. That is what makes the speaking stick.
One to one online
Get tailored tuition for your specific goals, whether it is for school, exam preparation, work or for fun.
Planned, not improvised
Every lesson has a structure behind it and every course has a shape, drawn from current educational research. Nobody is making it up on the night.
Enjoyable, on purpose
We plan for students to enjoy the hour as well as learn in it. It is easier to keep going with something you look forward to.

In their own words, on Google

I retired in October 2025 and have wanted to learn Spanish for some time. The pace of the class is very manageable and I look forward to my lessons every week. In the three months I have been taking lessons, I have been amazed at the progress I have made.

Sara W.

Natalia is warm, kind and encouraging, creating a welcoming environment for learning Spanish. She uses a variety of learning methods and activities which keeps the lessons interesting and fun.

Jodie

The lessons are fun, relaxed and engaging, and the teaching makes it much easier to actually remember and use what you learn. I particularly like that the focus is on practical Spanish that you can use in real-life situations.
